Workforce, Carbon and Timber in Focus

This month’s update highlights three key projects progressing under the Hub’s 2024–25 workplan. Phase 2 of our Workforce Project responds to real demographic challenges outlined by Dr Lisa Denny—like Tasmania’s ageing population and shrinking youth cohort—by co-designing practical tools with employers to attract and retain workers in regional areas.

Our second collaboration with the Tasmanian Policy Exchange explores how other jurisdictions are improving access to the ACCU carbon market. With desktop research nearing completion, we’re inviting local voices to help shape the next phase.

Finally, we’re proud that our commercial buildings case study on timber use was presented at the World Conference on Timber Engineering. The findings offer strategies to strengthen local timber use through collaboration, better guidance and design confidence. Read the full Hub June update here.
