Unlocking Workforce Potential in Tasmania’s Forestry Industry

Join industry leaders in Launceston on 11 February, 2025.

The Tasmania Forestry Hub invites you to the Forestry Employer + Service Provider Workshop at the Tramsheds, Launceston, on 11 February, 2025. This event will bring together forestry employers, employment service providers, and training organisations to tackle the complex challenges of recruitment, retention, and training in Tasmania’s forestry sector.

Damian Peirce, Director of DPC Tasmania, will facilitate the workshop and share his extensive insights into workforce development. With over 25 years of experience in the vocational education and training (VET) sector, Damian has dedicated his career to improving workforce outcomes through skills analysis, apprenticeship management, and fostering partnerships between employers and training providers.

“Employment and training in Tasmania can be incredibly complex,” Damian explains. “This workshop is about simplifying the process by connecting employers with each other and with key players in the system, including training organisations and service providers. Together, we can break down barriers, make the system work better for everyone, and create practical solutions for workforce challenges.”

The event is designed to be interactive, providing ample opportunities for employers to engage with expert providers in a safe and welcoming environment. Selected service providers from state and federal programs will share valuable insights into navigating the employment and training system and leveraging available support to drive workforce success.

The workshop will explore opportunities to refine recruitment strategies, improve workforce diversity, and engage communities to attract talent. Employers will also contribute to shaping a pilot project designed to test innovative recruitment models.

Tracey Taylor, General Manager of the Tasmania Forestry Hub, emphasises the Hub’s commitment to workforce development: “The Hub is focused on supporting an adaptable and inclusive workforce and through regional collaborative and coordinated approaches.” By facilitating events like this workshop, we aim to work with industry on exploring contemporary practices to attract, retain and seize opportunities for our forest industry workforce.”
